River's Edge Environmental Sculpture

River's Edge Environmental Sculpture is one of the most overlooked public sculptures hidden in plain view in downtown Grand Rapids.  The piece, by vermont-based sculptor Michael Singer, was commissioned by the Grand Rapids Art Museum in 1987 and was part of an effort to return the River to public esteem.

Some Facts

• The artist took great care to preserve the existing plantlife along the river, and to augment them only with native plants
• The sculpture is made from Vermont granite slabs and Michigan bouldors
